Watched For Her Sins on ch5 9pm last night, it runs for another three nights, not 100% sure about it yet, it was a bit predictable last night, but will watch again tonight.

I have to report that I am watching more YouTube than BBC. Cutting Edge Engineering and Wilderness cooking can hold my attention better than Garden Rescue...... I'll make an exception for the Repair Shop but even that is getting a touch stereotypical.

I've been reduced to Celebrity Antiques Road Trip this week. It was Stanley Johnson and a Chelsea Girl called Toff last night and the only thing that kept me watching was their disastrous ineptitude. Had to be seen to be believed!

Just a heads up for anyone 'sharing' a Netflix account, you'll need to pay for it now.

Youngest offspring has added me as an 'extra member' of his Netflix plan, it's only £4.99 a month for the full 'ultra HD' package (whatever that means). Me and P do find films to watch on there and it's cheaper than cinema tickets :good:

BBC 4 on now Ten Pound Poms - The Real Story.

It wasn't a bit like the 'drama'

I think Cathy would find it interesting.

PS - I see it was dated MCMXCVII which is 1997.

We watched the film Fisherman's Friends: One and All last night https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10373344/
Not as good as the original in my opinion but it did get me remembering my days in the boys choir at Barlick Modern and the wonderful Miss Astin who inspired us to sing our hearts out. :love2:

I haven’t seen Ten Pound Poms - The Real Story advertised yet on our abc tv channel.
1997 ? Maybe it was shown back then. ??

The picture looks very much like Kathleen Astin and Frank Bannister. who years ago (30+) were our next door neighbours.

Here it is on BBC iPlayer. Ten Pound Poms The Real Story

I think you would find it interesting. I did. One of Aunty Josie's sisters went out on the scheme, so that brings it a bit closer to home.

It is indeed Kathleen Astin and Frank Bannister's wedding. Not sure of the date. I have no idea where I got this (and a few other ) images of their wedding.

I recognise Mr Cockroft on one of the others I have. I'd put them up here but I was unsure which would be the appropriate thread.

Carlos Santana's performance at the 2011 Montreux Jazz Festival is a good watch. It's on Amazon Prime, sounds really good through the surround system :good:

I decided that in view of the current political situation I decided that it would be a good idea to review Michael Dobbs' 'House of Cards'. I went to BBC iPlayer and dived into it. Good choice, I enjoyed it......

I'm watching Trooping the Colour. A good spectacle. I'm so glad they don't make such a fuss for my birthday.

They've dressed poor old Camilla up in what is not, (but looks very much like) a military uniform. She looks like Pound Shop Princess Anne tribute act. Unbelieveable - sort of military blasphemy - if that's not a bit over the top.

The irreverent one on LBC said last night "she's not the Queen - the Queen died last year."

I agree - she looks ridiculous.

Royal Ascot next week. . . .

I though she looked a bit out of place. Her outfit apparently is based loosely on the guards uniform. No military training that I know of but she was made Commander in Chief of the Coldstream Guards, whatever next? I bet she can't march like them. :extrawink:

Intrigued by your comments I went back on catch up and watched some of the parade. I agree with you about Camilla, the phrase that came to my mind was Pound Shop Queen. I think the attempt to infuse some regal splendour by putting her in fancy dress was ludicrous.
Also, speaking as an old soldier, rifle drill with the modern weapons looks tatty to me. Nowhere near as impressive as drill done with the Short Magazine Lee Enfield..... (We used to slacken the screws attaching the wooden sheathing to give us more rattle during the drill)
The most impressive thing to my mind was the two Clydesdale Drum horses. I thought so during the Coronation parade as well.

Some how I get the impression that mentally she is 'drifting' into an other world. But the 'firm' rumbles on and puts on a good show.
