It is done Maz and yes it was expensive but what isn't these days. I now have two doors with better handles and perfect locks. I have peace of mind now. Nothing worse than not being able to depend on a door lock. You can't put a price on that.

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
A lot of Xmas food shopping will be done in the next three days. Remember that we don't actually need any more food over Xmas, the treats will fatten us up enough! There is a tradition of excess dating back to the days when we were permanently hungry. That doesn't apply today. The target should be to buy no more than you can eat. It's a sin to throw food away....

The local shop has a stack of very large Galaxy chocolate bars, they must be about 18 inches long. Do people really eat such things?

Cazza would, Tiz.

Are you doing total abstinence Cazza?
Or is your "pre-Christmas" Chocolate Stash sustaining you until you can eat your Christmas Stash?

Today's tip is that it is OK to break the rules occasionally. I OD'd on chocolate raisins last night..... Mea culpa.....

Oh no not total abstinence, no no no but I just think that something special should be kept for the right intended time.

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
I read the first line and was going to say "it's a bit like saving oneself for marriage".
Then I read the second line and thought I'd better not say anything! ( so I am saying nothing, but have had a good old chuckle)
Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
SG mentioned chocolate raisins and that brought back a horrible memory from childhood. We went to Cleveleys for a day out and I ate a lot of chocolate raisins. That's when I found they don't agree with me and I was sick in the car on the way home. Dad was none too pleased that his lovely car got messed up. I've never eaten a chocolate raisin since.

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
That reminds me of when I was in my early twenties I ate a custard tart and within a few hours (very painful hours) I was in hospital with appendicitis. I've never eaten once since.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.

Everyone knows it's not custard tarts that cause appendicitis, it's apple pips!

Buy some Sticky Stuff Remover so you can easily remove the glue left when you take labels off Christmas presents or labels off jam jars if, like me, you re-use the jars. Every house should have some. LINK

I use a similar product, Tiz. Mine has a lovely orange smell. Only need a few drops and it works a treat.
I reuse glass containers in my pantry. Must have at least 5 dozen of the big coffee containers and you can see exactly what's in them.
Looks like someone enjoyed her meal...

If I'd cooked that turkey the meat would have dropped off the bone......
No washing up here beyond a bowl and a spoon.....
I hope you all had a good day with no alarums or excursions.

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
Sticky stuff remover is based on citrus oil, Maz, which accounts for the lovely smell.
I have rows of jam jars on shelves above my workbench, filled with screws, nails etc. Mrs Tiz's father used to do something similar but he fastened the lids underneath his shelves so that he could screw off the jars with one hand.

My jars contain everything from whole meal flour, to gluten free pasta, to pumpkin seeds, to walnuts, to coconut, to oats, to almonds, to lentils, to chocolate chips....anything you can imagine.

Another Lakeland product that we like is the Splatter Guard for covering a frying pan. Mrs Tiz has just replaced her old battered one with a new one.... LINK
