Re: Gardening
The front garden yesterday. The mint may be a bit shy but the Ladslove has survived and the Lilac is thriving, it has more blossom than any time I can remember!

Re: Gardening
Last night at 20:30 while Jack was having a trot and a pee I noticed that the lilac blossom was full of bees, there were scores of them harvesting whatever it was they were getting from the flowers. That pleased me no end.....

Re: Gardening
We have a ball of spiderlings in the corner of one of our raised beds. If you touch them they all explode outwards like a flower opening, there must be a few hundred of them. Shortly after they all reassemble in their cluster.

reminded on the telly program, that most of the bees collecting is entirely for their grub stage offspring to feed off when they hatch, hardly any, if any, for most adults.
Re: Gardening
The roses are putting in an appearance in the front yard. There are 7 buds on this one, the pink and white bushes haven't produced any buds yet but there's still a lot of growing to do

Nice picture Kev.
I did some more (reluctant) pebble shifting this afternoon then took a picture of the Acanthus.

Tripps, it looks like your Acanthus is going to have competition from a young ash tree!

So that's what they are - all over the place in my drought garden. I'll deal with them.
Actually I found a similar picture at the same time last year, and this year's is a lot better. Tried to post both for comparison, but it proved to be a step too far.

Fortunately no damage, and I slept well afterwards - and lost 2lbs. Everyone's a winner.

Re: Gardening
Good! Nothing like a bit of gentle outdoor exercise. Kipling springs to mind on the Black Dog, his cure was to "dig 'til you gently perspire". (Have I got that right?)

Re: Gardening
This mild weather has not only tricked a lot of plants into flowering early but now we've got slugs eating them!

Not sure - but I'd be going perhaps for Churchill rather than Kipling.
