I wonder how many people have a spare room, with a full freezer, that looks like a mini supermarket !
Not pointing any fingers because I would do it myself, if I could. But the way things are at the moment, I’m grateful that things are rationed because it ‘hopefully’ gives each of us the same chance. If only the most needed items were readily available.

Today I received an email about something else to ‘get used to’. All the volunteers at my local Hospital, including me obviously, have been told (Mandatory) that we are not to return until post Covid-19.
Feeling a bit empty and upset.

I've just been panic shopping! Not really, forgot to get Jack's dog biscuits when I went the other day. He doesn't know it but he's safe for the time being!
Cathy, hard luck but knowing you you'll soon find something to occupy your time.

That's happening around here as well Wendy.

We asked our milkman last night via the internet to deliver us some spuds. We had two small bags delivered this morning along with our milk. Ian Greenwood does a number of products alongside the milk, you can message him via his FB Site:

We have a well stocked freezer and store cupboard but that's the way we have always lived, ready for any emergency. I used the last of my floor cleaner the other day :surprised: but I'm not panicking about that. We are so, so lucky to live as we do, free of older relatives to worry about and a year's worth of jobs to get on with.

Social Distancing. Today the powers that be told us to keep 4 square metres free around each of us. How!?

Back from the dentist and my treatment (check up) could be the last for a while at the Harrison Street practice. My dentist Eva said they had been having meetings to see when they would be closing to all but emergency treatments. I suppose that will apply to the Park Avenue practice as well as they are the same group. She said they had a lot of cancellations. All at the practice were well as was I or I would not have gone. Anyway, teeth OK, next check up is around September.

Mrs P in the supermarket yesterday Picked up the last ½ doz eggs. A man behind said "you've got the last of the eggs". Mrs P "No there's plenty of organic eggs left". Man, " I'm not paying those prices" about a few pence dearer. Mrs P "well do without then". She told me the tale when she got home. Then added if it had been an old woman I may have relented. Daren't say her age but another 20 years and its a telegram from Buck Palace. Age is all relative.

How do you pay for stuff if you have to be 4 m apart?

I used contactless today to pay for my dental treatment, just got in under the limit. :extrawink: :good:

But I had to use their pen to sign the form. :laser:

Maz, you mentioned going to the chemists. We passed the local one yesterday and there was a long queue outside. It's especially long because they won't let you queue inside.

In all the talk about panic buying there's one fact that doesn't get mentioned - some of the people buying trolley loads of one thing are going home and selling it at an inflated price on Ebay. But there's going to be a problem when well-meaning citizens try to buy extra because they are shopping for others too who are not able to go out due to age or illness.

Mrs Tiz has been kind and went to the supermarket while I stayed at home because she's under 70 and I'm over 70 and have a chronic lung problem. But really it doesn't make much difference because if she gets the virus I'll get it from her.

Because of the abuse of their employees some of the supermarkets here say they are putting their checkout people behind windows. In times like this you see the best and the worse in people.

One person at a time in Whitworth's Chemist on Rainhall Rd. Orderly queue outside, except for one who couldn't grasp the concept of 'one at a time'. He soon got the hang of it when they turfed him out.

A friend in Republic of Ireland tells me that the police there have had to break up a large gathering of young people. They're having trouble with the young believing the virus won't affect them so they can come and go as they please. They can't or won't grasp the idea that they may not suffer badly from it but they'll still be vectors and carry it to more vulnerable folk. I guess we might get the same problem here.

I reckon we will. There's evidence of measures being put in place to control the masses, there has been an increase in military presence in different parts of the country. I suspect 'city' lockdowns will happen.

Sheesh a thread started yesterday with all these posts, must be something important...... :biggrin2:

Being in the at risk group my daughter was preaching at me on the phone for letting Mrs Pluggy out the door (who isn't on the list) , The as yet unknown condition thats gradually turning me disabled will probably have reduced me to a non walking state by the time Covid19 is over. I saw a specialist at the end of February who said it isn't what I thought - I'm awaiting test results which will be be on a back burner now. Ah well, I'm playing the hand I was dealt which is all anyone can do. Que Sera Sera as the song goes.......

Me too, pluggy.

Managed a small shop this morning after all. We had decided not to bother, but were woken at 06.30 am by a very noisy cement truck making a delivery across the road. It was impossible to get back to sleep, so we got up and went shopping.
Strict limits on almost everything. We were ok, but the man in front of us had three cans of Baked Beans and he was only allowed two ( the electronic scanning got him).
Fruit and Veg prices are through the roof.
Felt guilty taking the very last jar of Vegemite off the shelf...
