Febby thought it was a carborumbden wheel ( or some such thing...but we googled that and I didn't see anything that looked like it. )

Magnetic paper clip tray?
Non-smokers ash tray ( complete with hole)
Top for fermenting jar...insert tubing through afore-mentioned hole
Or a spare wheel for your Zimmer Frame...

(me eyes spin round in opposite directions when you get all technical...I would love to have been the kid who sat next to you at school because I think I could have learnt a lot...probably stuff I didn't really need to know...but it would have been a lot of fun)

Bodge was right but Gloria gave the exact description. Like Maz I am impressed, A lot of engineers wouldn't have got that! It was made by Carborundum of Manchester and sits in it's silk lined padded box. Does anyone know what the Carborundum trade mark and motto was?

I used to have a Carborundum ashtray. The symbol was a Red Indian Chief's head and the motto was 'Hardest and sharpest'.

Sorry...thought about scale after emailing pic to Stanley...diameter is approx 3inches across.
Not an ornamental glass pebble, but I won't say any more for now.
