Boring I know but apart from normal Jack maintenance and household tasks, enjoying my reading of German history..... What fascinates me about Arminius and the subsequent history is the way it influenced German culture. I still remember standing on the same podium Hitler used at the Zeppelin Field in Nuremberg (Remember Lennie Riefenstal and 'Triumph of the Will'?) and my mate Roger explaining the significance of the orientation of the Marching Road which pointed directly at the Kaiserburg, the seat in Nuremberg of the Holy Roman Emperor. Never underestimate the role of culture used as propaganda!

Having a trip to the Lancashire Record Office. We have a day organised to look at the Earby UDC records and to consider what can be copied for the Earby Archive.

Lucky you Wendy I love record offices. We are going out for a birthday lunch to a local restaurant 3 courses. coffee and as much wine as you want for 11 euro's. Dave hates this particular restaurant but it's not his birthday he'd sooner have quality rather than quantity. Eileen

Have a rare couple of hours home alone this arvo, so might curl up with a book. Or I may just lay there, absorb the peace, and let my mind wander.

Sounds dangerous Maz! Keep that mind occupied, you never know where a wandering one will take you....
A productive day at the Record Office yesterday but it wasn't easy getting back out of Preston at 4.00 o'clock. It was a bit of a shock to see armed police guarding the courthouse. Found out later that the Dale Creggan trial is taking place there. It was scary enough driving past the scene, it makes you wonder what it must be like to be on the jury at a trial like that.
Colne library this morning.

An early GP appointment for Febby...followed by an emergency Cat Scan...followed by GP appointment...followed by urgent referral to Cardiologist ( which they couldn't schedule today, so that is n the list for tomorrow).
Would have preferred to be doing other things of course! Getting heartily sick of waiting rooms and corridors. Getting heartily sick of trying to fit the rest of life in around all things medical. Still...we need to get him sorted.
( not his fault...poor buggar) :itsok:

Just for a moment there I thought you had a sick cat as well as a sick husband! More seriously, please give our best wishes to Febby for a quick diagnosis and a good outcome to any treatment he might need.

Maz, give David my best and tell him that I want him back to normal as soon as possible!
Usual Friday activities, shopping maintaining our life style and generally tidying up. I console myself with the fact that it's therapeutic to be a singleton and having to look after myself.....

He's back in hospital...
Cardiologist didn't mince words either! It looks serious. Playing the waiting game...the usual wait for test results, but the ones he had today do not give a good picture. I feel so sorry for him.Had to fight back the tears a couple of times.

Thank you.
News today is that the Septicaemia is still active, has attacked his heart and he has had a mild heart attack. At least one of his bypass sites is blocked again, possibly by infection. They must treat the infection before they can work on the heart.
Another waiting game.
But he is not feeling any worse than he has been for the last fortnight and is in reasonable spirits.
( and it seems really weird to be saying this on no other basis than simply feeling it, but we both feel he is going to be ok)

Not good news but keep positive. These infections are a bugger and Mick had the same problems. They know what the correct AB is now and so should be able to hit it immediately this time. They will not be positive when talking to you, the last thing they want to do is raise your hopes. Stick in there and be strong for him, that's the best medicine for him! Love to both of you....

It's a trying time for you both, thinking of you.

It's been a good day in the Lakes, we had a lovely trip on the Eskdale to Ravenglass railway, taking a picnic for a quiet sit on the beach at Ravenglass. Very windy but lovely and sunny and lovely views. Home tomorrow.

I am back next Saturday for a week of Art in Kendal.
