Definitely collectors cards, maybe Chinese or Indian but I can't think why they were made, could be characters from a movie or a book etc, maybe promoting a zoo... Don't know.

You surprise me, I thought someone would remember. You evidently need a clue, yes they are labels but to identify what?

Sorry, nobody has got it. They are labels that were stuck on bales of cloth destined for export to India. They were almost a trademark and differentiated one firm's exports from the others. They have adhesive backs and were simply wetted and stuck on the outside of the cloth.

Which firm used this image for advertising? There is a bonus for anyone who can name a second instance where it was used as well..... (and what was the advertising slogan in the first instance?)

The second example could be Guy Motors. The radiator caps of their trucks and buses had a bust of an Indian Chieftain. Don't know any other usage.
