Have we, I don't remember them coming up before.
Definitely collectors cards, maybe Chinese or Indian but I can't think why they were made, could be characters from a movie or a book etc, maybe promoting a zoo... Don't know.

Sorry, nobody has got it. They are labels that were stuck on bales of cloth destined for export to India. They were almost a trademark and differentiated one firm's exports from the others. They have adhesive backs and were simply wetted and stuck on the outside of the cloth.

The second example could be Guy Motors. The radiator caps of their trucks and buses had a bust of an Indian Chieftain. Don't know any other usage.
