Re: WW2 service records

Just for the record, the National Archives haven't asked for any money yet for my dads service records. The original deal from the MOD was £30.00 if they turned anything up, maybe its a different deal with the NA's, who knows? It could be that because the request was passed from pillar to post the c...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

Contrast the fact that even if he is sent to prison he can still be elected President with the rules in the UK which disbars anyone with a criminal record from standing as a political candidate for election. I remember when Sally stood for the County Council she had to give her job up at the time as...

We also have the added bonus that it will be summer in three weeks. Not tomorrow as will no doubt be declared before the Met department lot have to shoot them selves in the foot which often happens when you try to mess around with the seasons. :extrawink:

Re: Blood Donors

Today's session at West Bradford Village Hall went well, some good banter with the nurses. My 50th donation "in the bag" so to say. New tuck at the recovery station also, bags of sun dried raisin's, an orange club to accompany. :cool4: Gold badge and donor card time at some point. ...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

She has had the whip returned and therefore is a member of the party. She has been denied the right to stand though as a Labour candidate, which in my book is discriminatory. End result of course will be she either has to stand as an independent which will mean she is kicked out again or not bother ...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

As Starmer boasts in another report, he has changed Labour permanently. I fear he has and the new look does not appeal to me. It looks like a slightly left wing version of Conservatism to me..... I remain active in the party as I believe you cannot change anything if you are not a member and involv...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

It took over two years for my brother and his wife to sell his first house in France in the Limousine region. They did have one sale that fell through before completing on a second just over a year ago. As they intend to stay in France they bought a plot of land just west of Marseilles and hired a b...

Re: General Election July 4th 2024

Looks promising, I assume they will have taken into consideration the fact that there are no longer any Labour Councillors on Pendle Borough Council. General Elections have totally different voting demographics It broadly matches the data that I play with. I also know that our candidate could do a l...

I have to say this Stanley, it's not Summer! It won't be summer on the 1st of June either, there is about four weeks to go yet

There's an old saying which covers for this eventuality," Ne'er cast a clout till May is out", which I am sure you know.

Re: General Election July 4th 2024

The proroguing bit is so that they can legally all do nowt apart from plot their exits or attend meetings to plot their campaigns! It stops just short of dissolving Parliament, but for a few days! Constitutional nonsense which needs to be dragged into the 21st century with a new modern electoral sys...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

Farage ducks out of any actual contest and as far as we can tell Dianne Abbot and Jeremy Corbyn are going to be excluded. I couldn't care less about Farage, he is just a mouth on a stick. The treatment of Dianne Abbot is a disgrace and Jeremy has announced that he will stand as an Independent at th...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Pendle's good too. I've been wondering why, if David Whipp is alleging illegal electoral activity, he does not report it to the Police. Indeed, he did with his allegation of "treating" at a party event of ours for the local elections a couple of years ago. More mischief making than anythi...

Near enough David, if you zoom it you will see they have already hatched into spiderlings. Smaller patch looks like a breakaway group. They have all moved now into shelter under the overhang of the top stones of the back yard wall. Clever little spiders.
