Re: Coronavirus (Covid19) Corner
Going back to the cygnus report where it pointed out that if 50% of the population contracted this virus then this would apply equally to care workers. We are now seeing that this simple logic is further aggravated by the fact that some ethnic groups may be at a bigger risk than others. NHS staff fr...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Bitterly cold day yesterday. Pressure washing was a pain. A cold wind directly in my face not to mention the muck thrown up from the back spray. Having got through the 'good ideas', 'I've been thinking' we are now onto 'while you're at it'. Anything is better than weeding. A word of warning if anybo...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19) Corner
It doesn't take a genius to know that if you group vulnerable people together then once the virus strikes then all the group are at risk including the carers. Why has it taken four months for this simple fact to sink in? Stanley I think you're going over the top refusing any official medical care tr...

Cold and damp outside, all set for a bit of pressure washing. A stone paved path about 30 mt long. It gets so slippery that you daren't walk on it. Shouldn't take long he says with tongue in cheek.

Knowing nothing about radio signals but Tesla's free energy has always been at the back of my mind. A couple of internet comments here. From 1891 to 1898 he experimented with the transmission of electrical energy using a radio frequency resonant transformer of the Tesla coil, which produces high vol...

Re: POLITICS CORNER
Giving loans to businesses to keep them going may be a sound economic policy the problem arises when those involved in making loans are still wearing their old commercial hat with the benchmark of future profitability. This approach distorts the market by giving advantage to the already large firms ...

Who would believe that after sowing grass seed my biggest problem is keeping the ground damp. Three hours of sunshine is turning the soil to dust. Can't believe it.

Both Mrs P and myself are now each the proud possessors of one of Sally's face masks. Clearly identified as not of surgical quality but if the general government advice is to wear one then we will do so. If nothing else it sends a message to everyone that you are playing your part and that you have ...

Wendy has it, The well at St Mary's church Thornton. Some while ago Wendy told me about some carved heads near the doorway to the church. I went over and found all sorts of inscriptions rebuilt into the walls. At the time I'm sure Wendy mentioned someone doing some research into the church.

Yesterday was full of 'good ideas' all of which involved me in digging holes and replanting shrubs. Today will be a bit of strimming and preparation for pressure washing for when the rains come. Always easier after the slime has been softened with a bit of damp weather. Trying to ignore the ' I've b...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19) Corner
Excellent posts Sue, I think most of us on OG have given up on the tabloid newspapers some years ago. One of the main problems of course is that journalists miss quote politicians who in turn are selective in the information they hand out often in such a garbled manner and with added words that give...

Re: BEWARE! THE BANKS ARE OUT TO GET YOU!
For years its been policy to make poor people feel more wealthy. Unfortunately the modern making them feel wealthier actually makes them poorer. This may sound like alchemy turning lead into gold but finishing up with more lead. How is this done? Simple lend them money and tell them they can repay i...

Re: Kitchen Refurb
No accounting for taste. When we moved into our house over 30 years ago someone had painted the banister and newel posts whitish. Spent hours striping it off to find some very expensive spanish mahogany underneath. Just sliding your hand over it was worth all the effort.

Our milk was delivered from one of the local farmers. A small two wheel trap holding about three kits of milk. He would arrive at the bottom of the back street, ring his bell, and out you would go with your jug. Later he got all modern and would deliver in bottles. TT tested milk was his big selling...
